Glastonbury see all Articles . Plic, plop, plic, plop ... The sound of raindrops we wake up on Friday, packed like sardines in our tent in the middle of thousands of others Glastonbury, not far from the John Peel Stage where the first notes sound for music festival which begins in earnest. The hopes of yesterday have not taken very long: the rain had finally also found a ticket to Glastonbury and had to stay there all weekend. Hard to motivate to get out of our temporary home and confront her ... However, the day promises exceptional level concerts.
Between two showers, equipped with plastic bags (translation for northerners: plastic bags) around our shoes (no, we had no boots ...), we find the courage to go out and take a look ' look at the first concerts. Passing on the Pyramid Stage we attended the concerts of Scottish youngsters The View we felt a little lost on this huge stage. Their first album, released earlier this year had absolutely nothing extraordinary but nevertheless was listening with some fun, with some good songs like Same Jean . Live is another matter and the four kids still have progress to make. However, as I will repeat often, a concert in late morning or middle of the afternoon can not be assessed as an evening concert in the evening.
We moved then to the Other Stage (the second biggest stage after the Pyramid Stage) pending the arrival of Modest Mouse. We took the opportunity to see The Cribs which were quite good. I really like their latest single particular Men's Needs (and check out the video for this song too ...).
As the rain increased in intensity and our poor Plastic bags were beginning to give up the ghost, Modest Mouse was then come on stage. I loved their last album, "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank" so much that I waited impatiently. With Johnny Marr (former Smiths guitarist ) acclaimed by the public, Modest Mouse was able to give us a good time when we were soaked to the bone in warming us with songs that are skipping as Float On Dashboard or . A good concert, but I still preferred to see a little later in the evening, in another mood ... Just enough time to equip themselves with brand new boots that were beginning to get really critical and it happened to Bright Eyes I was also eager to see for the first time, being a good amateur folk-rock of Conor Oberst friend. Yet, as he himself says ("It is nice to Be here again. I Thought We'd never come back "), we did not see him again one day after Glasto comments disturbing that he made two years ago about John Peel . Dressed in white and accompanied by an orchestra, Conor Oberst has tapped into his best songs. Again, I liked the service but hard to catch fire when we are in the middle of the after noon and there is no atmosphere in the audience.
atmosphere, it would just go with Rufus Wainwright , always on the Other Stage (which will eventually not leave from The Cribs). He also accompanied many musicians dressed like him in a crazy style, we delivered a strong performance embellished with a few surprises and grand final. After the superb song 14th St, Rufus is back on stage in a bathrobe and accompanied by his sister Martha for us to play the beautiful song Hallelujah duet. Then he left his bathrobe to reveal a mini-skirt and tights, then set the lipstick to resume the song Get Happy Judy Garland of as a true cabaret singer and his musicians also playing the game by the dancers. Really a great time! Rufus Wainwright has given its performance a little more special festival you like them!
After Rufus was the most anticipated time of day: Arcade Fire! While the rain had stopped and we watched a beautiful sunset, the crowd came in large numbers to cheer on the Canadians who had installed 5 or 6 screens on stage to take odd videos. No surprises: for their first Glastonbury, Arcade Fire has made everyone agree with a perfect set-list, boundless energy and everything you need to do a concert close to perfection. Linking Neighborhood # 3 (Power Out) and Rebellion (Lies) before finishing on Wake Up which is now a hymn, while the public carrying the song in my heart. Need we say more except that I believe Arcade Fire is currently the best band in the world ...

After that, we were all stunned and concerts were not yet completed. On Friday night the choice was very difficult knowing that even the headliners of different stage included Arctic Monkeys, Bjork, Hot Chip, Damien Rice, Damian Marley and Fatboy Slim. It finally Bjork that we chose and although I am far from being a fan of the small Finnish, I must admit that with hindsight, I enjoyed his performance. Changing costumes several times during the concert, Bjork sailed between his last album, "Volta", and the best songs from his repertoire. But what I remember is the incredible shape she has. More than 40 years, she keeps jumping and dancing on stage (indeed, in this connection, I noticed an amazing simititude between his way dance and that of Lovefoxxx, singer CSS! The little Brazilian could she inspired the small Finnish ....). In addition, there were effects of lights and lasers very successful who loved a little more substantial.
Even if the weather has been atrocious, the day has been exceptional in terms of music. However, the night was far from over ... After a short tour to the famous Brothers Bar and Pear Cider more than 7%, we went for a ride to the famous Stone Circle, a small hill to the limits of the festival, marking the cool people and campfires. To describe in few words, saying that it was very sex, drugs and rock'n'roll except it lacked the sex and rock'n'roll;)
